Pearce Lab

Our principal research interests are the application of molecular biology and genomics approaches to understand the genetic basis of important traits in wheat. Current projects include studies of the determinants of yield, developing strategies to improve the nutritional quality of wheat and investigating abiotic stress resistance.

Recent, rapid advances in sequencing and computing technologies have led to the development of novel tools and resources that greatly accelerate our ability to dissect the pathways underlying these traits. Through the application of such tools, our long-term research goals are to contribute to the development of higher-yielding wheat varieties with improved quality which will be required to provide food and nutrition security for a growing world population.
